Friends of White River National Wildlife Refuge is a private, non-profit 501c-3 corporation established in 1993 by a group of conservation minded hunters, fisherman, wildlife watchers and outdoor enthusiasts. Their goal...to promote, protect and conserve the largest remaining tract of bottomland forest in the Mississippi River Valley.... White River National Wildlife Refuge.

What We're About

White River NWR friends and volunteers are dedicated to supporting the refuge by assisting with the following goals and opportunities:

Foster refuge use and enjoyment by the public, consistent with the protection and conservation of the environment, and engage in such educational, scientific, and civic activities to assist the Refuge.

Promote public awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting this unique network of bottomland forest, rivers, and wildlife so that its value is fully recognized and appreciated by current and future generations.

Fund-raise through grants, online sales, memberships, donations, community partnerships and a
variety of special events that enhance the Refuge.

Inform elected officials and the public about Refuge issues and benefits of the National Wildlife Refuges.

Provide opportunities and coordinate volunteers for refuge events, research, maintenance work parties and educational programs.
